JMEA says NCRA and BSJ should ensure informal manufacturers across the country are registered
President of the Jamaica Manufacturers and Exporters Association (JMEA) John Mahfood is stressing the need for the National Compliance and Regulatory Authority (NCRA) and the Bureau of Standards Jamaica (BSJ) to ensure that informal manufacturers across the country are registered.
This, amid concerns over the quality and standard of some products.
Mr Mahfood noted that the COVID pandemic forced many people into entrepreneurship as a means of survival.
He explained that many of these small businesses are unregistered, and as such, may not be operating under the regulated standards.
Mr Mahfood urged the country’s regulatory bodies to address the issue.
