Tourism ministry welcomes growth in villas sub-sector
More visitors to the island are choosing to stay in non-hotel type accommodations such as Airbnb’s.
This is according to Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett, who notes that there has been a resurgence of the villas sub-sector, due in part to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr. Bartlett says close to a third of the visitors to the island last year, stayed in Airbnb’s.
Mr. Bartlett urged more Jamaicans to participate in the sector so they can benefit from the tourists who visit the island.
He was speaking at the recent official opening of the $1.3 billion Bengal Cove Villas development in Discovery Bay, St. Ann.
