Opposition suggests trained graduate teachers should be offered gross salary of no less than $291k per month
Opposition Spokesman on Education and Training, Damion Crawford has suggested that a trained graduate teacher should be offered a gross salary of no less than 291 thousand dollars each month.
Speaking at a virtual press briefing this morning (March 8), Mr Crawford said the 291 thousand dollars would cover the basic needs of the teachers.
According to Mr Crawford, the proposed monthly salary would cost the Government an estimated 19 billion dollars.
Meantime, Mr Crawford has described as unreasonable, claims that there might be political influence in the ongoing discussions about the public sector restructured compensation system.
Finance Minister, Dr Nigel Clarke, in his budget presentation in Parliament yesterday, expressed concern that partisan politics was weaving its way into the wage negotiations.
However, at this morning’s press briefing, Mr Crawford rejected the claim, describing it as unreasonable and baseless.
