Met Service indicates that drought conditions impacting Jamaica could worsen this month

Head of the Metrological Service of Jamaica, Evan Thompson has indicated that the drought conditions impacting Jamaica could worsen this month.

This, based on trends and assessments done by the met office.

The country has been experiencing a meteorological drought with several parishes facing extremely dry conditions.

Mr Thompson notes that March is generally the driest month of the year, and projections are for rainfall to remain below normal until about April.

Meanwhile, President of the National Water Commission, Mark Barnett says the Commission has been implementing several measures to tackle the water shortage.

This includes bringing more wells back into service.

The Government is in the process of procuring eight additional trucks for the Commission to aid in the trucking of water to citizens.
