Panton family lawyer says remand facility will impair Jean Ann’s health
The attorney representing the Panton family has indicated that the facility where Jean Ann Panton is being held is in a terrible state and unfit for use by even healthy detainees.
Sylvester Hemmings’ comment came after Ms. Panton was denied bail when she appeared in the home circuit court this morning.
The lawyer, who requested special permission to address the court, claimed that based on checks made, inmates are administering care to each other at the remand facility.
Speaking with Irie FM News, Mr. Hemmings lamented that correctional facilities in the country, are operating below acceptable standards.
He also argued that having Ms. Panton detained in these facilities could further impair her health.
