Manchester business operators welcome curfew but concerned with impact on businesses
Some business operators in Mandeville, Manchester have welcomed yesterday’s implementation of a curfew in the parish, but have expressed concern that the anti crime measure, could affect their businesses.
The 38 hour curfew, which began at 6 p-m on Tuesday, will continue until 8 AM on Thursday.
Among the affected areas are Old England, George’s Valley, Richmond, May Day and New Hall.
The curfew was imposed after a man was killed in Old England, last week.
Dead is Aldo Scott, otherwise called Chukum.
One business operator said the curfew is bad for business.
And, a man pointed out that persons who can only afford to buy food each day will be impacted.
He said unsold food items in his shop will spoil by the time the curfew is lifted.
