Opposition leader urges PM Holness to step away from his post following OCG report
In the wake of an Integrity Commission report, Opposition Leader Mark Golding has urged the country’s leader, Prime Minister Andrew Holness to step away from his post.
The Director of Investigation has referred the Prime Minister to the Director of Corruption Prosecution for a probe of possible breaches, relating to conflict of interest in regards to the awarding of contracts to a construction company, some 17 years ago.
Speaking at a press conference today, Mr. Golding said the situation is unprecedented in Jamaica’s history.
He said it undermines Jamaica’s image in the international community and among key development partners.
Mr. Golding said the referral raises questions about integrity, credibility, and Holness’ fitness to lead the country.
