Homeless man killed in St. Mary; another hospitalised after being beaten
The body of a homeless man was found with the throat slashed in Port Maria, St. Mary, on Sunday (February 5).
He has been identified as O’neil Collin.
Minister of Local Government Desmond McKenzie said Mr. Collin’s body was found, near the Port Maria police station.
He noted that Collin was well known to the St. Mary poor relief department and was a regular user of the drop-in centre in the parish.
Mr. McKenzie expressed concerned about reports that another homeless person was beaten and is now in hospital. He said thankfully his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The Minister is urging anyone who may have witnessed what happened to provide the police with the available facts.
