PAAC to deliberate on third supplementary estimates today
Parliament‘s Public Administrations and Appropriations Committee, PAAC, will meet today (Feb. 1), to deliberate on the third supplementary estimates, that were tabled on Tuesday, by the finance minister.
Dr. Nigel Clarke had indicated that the budget will be increased by $24 billion, to facilitate among other things, payments to the public sector, under the restructuring programme.
The minister also told the lower house on Tuesday, that discussions are ongoing, with some bargaining groups that are yet to sign, on to the new wage scheme.
These include, Tax Administration Jamaica, Customs Agency, teachers and doctors.
Dr. Clarke acknowledged the frustration expressed by some members of the public sector.
He said he will be meeting with some groups next week.
Regarding doctors who are on contract, the minister said efforts continue, to transition these persons, to permanent employment status.
