Jamaica’s Under 17 Reggae Boys to tackle Trinidad and Tobago in a two match series
Jamaica’s National Under 17 footballers will face Trinidad and Tobago in a two match series starting this weekend ahead of their participation in the 2023 Concacaf under 17 Championship in Guatemala.
The young Jamaicans, led by head coach Merron Gordon, will face the Trinidadian in the first game on before the teams square off for the second and final time in the contest to be played next Tuesday.
Both teams will then head off for the World Cup qualifying competition which starts on February 11.
Jamaica will contest group ‘g’ alongside Costa Rica, Cuba and Guadeloupe, while Trinidad will play in group F alongside Canada, USA and Barbados.
The top three teams in each group at the Concacaf championship will advance to the knockout stage, where they will join the four group winners from the 2022 qualifiers………Bermuda, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Puerto Rico.
The four semi finalists will qualify for the FIFA Under 17 World Cup in Peru between November 10 and December 2.
Meanwhile, in looking ahead coach Merron Gordon speaking earlier this month…..said he was very confident of their chances.
