Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson says he will be recommending that another round of States of Emergency SOEs, be implemented in several parishes.

The most recent SOEs which were declared in eight parishes on December 6, ended on Tuesday.

They covered St. Ann, Clarendon, St. Catherine, specified areas of Kingston and St. Andrew, St. James, Westmoreland and Hanover.

They were declared after Prime Minister Andrew Holness noted that the country’s crime rate had increased since the previous SOEs, expired on November 29.

The Prime Minister had hinted that government could implement a new round of SOEs over the Christmas Holidays in an effort to keep citizens safe.

Speaking during a visit of the Trelawny Police Division today (December 22), Commissioner Anderson said he will be requesting that the SOEs be re-implemented, in several areas until January, next year.

While noting that Trelawny was not under a State of Emergency Major General Anderson said the other parishes in Area 1 had successful SOEs.

And, Head of Police Area 1, Assistant Commissioner Clifford Chambers has agreed that the SOEs, which were declared in St. James, Hanover and Westmoreland, were fruitful.

He said the relationship between the police and citizens has also grown, under the s-o-es.
