The Education Ministry will be conducting an assessment of students’ access to e-books, later in the academic year.

Portfolio Minister Fayval Williams said the ministry wants to evaluate how students are doing with the e-books so that a decision can be taken on how to proceed.

Cabinet recently awarded a contract to provide students in grades 7 to 11 with e-books, under the ministry’s national textbook loan scheme.

As it relates to hard copy textbooks, Mrs. Williams explained that because the books are printed overseas, delivery is being impacted by supply chain issues.

When questioned about why the books are printed overseas, Mrs. Williams said it’s more cost-effective, to do so.
