NWA teams mobilized to clear roadways
The National Works Agency (NWA) says teams have been mobilized island-wide to clear roadways impacted by heavy rainfall associated with hurricane Ian.
A number of roadways were flooded; some broke away, while several others were blocked by landslides, fallen trees, and other debris.
Among the affected roadways were the Bog Walk Gorge, Zion Hill to Tulloch, St. Johns Road in St. Catherine, Chapleton in Clarendon, Balintoy in St. Ann, and Baileys Vale to Oxford Road in St. Mary.
Communication and customer services manager at the NWA, Stephen Shaw told IRIE FM News that teams have been deployed to clear roadways where possible.
He said the Zion Hill to Tulloch roadway in the vicinity of Rentcombe in St. Catherine, which was affected by a landslide, has been cleared and single lane vehicular traffic can access the thoroughfare.
