Commissioner says police must win when they engage criminals
Whenever the police engage with gunmen, the lawmen must win.
That’s according to Commissioner of Police, Major General Antony Anderson.
He was reacting to recent comments, about how police should respond when confronted by gunmen.
Last Thursday, National Security Minister Dr. Horace Chang cautioned gunmen about confronting the police, warning that if they do so, they should be prepared, to face the consequences.
The Security Minister was lashed by human rights groups, and other members of the public, including the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
Adding, his voice to the debate, today, while visiting grieving families of the September 18 mass shooting in Spring Village, St. Catherine, the Commissioner said while criminals can shoot randomly, the police are constrained, in how they function.
He reiterated that police officers must win in any engagement with criminals.
