Williams says government to improve communication between parents and school administrators
Education Minister Fayval Williams says the government will be working to improve the ways in which parents and school administrations communicate.
Her comments come in the wake of a disturbance involving parents and students at the Godfrey Stewart High School in Westmoreland earlier this week, over the school’s uniform rules.
Since the incident, Mrs Williams has indicated her support for the school’s administrators, citing the importance of discipline in schools.
Speaking at a rotary club meeting on Thursday, the minister reiterated the need for parents to attend parents-teachers meetings so that issues can be discussed.
She said the government will be putting technological advancements in place to make the process easier.
In the meantime, she renewed her call for schools to be creative, when disciplining students.
