Transport Authority meets with scores of transport operators following protests today
The Transport Authority met with scores of transport operators in the corporate area today (September 12), following protests over several issues affecting the sector.
The operators had withdrawn their service, claiming that they were being unfairly targeted by the police over issues such as tinting on vehicles and badges.
Several commuters in Stony Hill, Lawrence Tavern, Half Way Tree and other areas were left stranded due to the protests.
Following the meeting with the Transport Authority, the operators reportedly resumed duties.
President of the Transport Operators Development Sustainable Services TODSS, Egeton Newman told Irie Fm News that he is happy that the issues have been resolved.
He said he does not expect that transport operators will protest for a second day.
