PIOJ says 2nd quarter economic performance shows continuing Covid pandemic recovery
The Planning Institute of Jamaica, PIOJ says the performance of the economy for April to June this year, shows the process of recovery from the Covid pandemic has continued.
According to preliminary data provided by the institute today (August 18), real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by an estimated 5.7 per cent in the April to June 2022 quarter, compared with the corresponding quarter last year.
PIOJ Director General Dr. Wayne Henry gave the update at a press conference.
Dr. Henry said the strength of the recovery in the domestic economy has eclipsed the negative impact on growth, posed by the challenges in the global economy, including supply chain disruptions.
