Production workers at Carib Cement sign new wage agreement

After several months of negotiations, production workers at the Caribbean Cement Company have signed a new collective agreement for wages and fringe benefits.

The agreement covers the period ending June 2024, and was signed, after protracted negotiations, which saw the minister of labour, intervening, to avert industrial unrest.

The workers are represented by the Union of Clerical Administrative and Supervisory Employees, U-Case.

U-Case President, Vincent Morrison, told Irie Fm news that while he believes the company could have been a bit more generous, the resolution to the negotiations is welcome.

Mr Morrison outlined some of the benefits secured for the workers which include 10 of days paternity leave.
