MAJ President says staff prepared for Monkeypox

President of the Medical Association of Jamaica, Dr Brian James says medical staff are prepared and equipped to handle the monkey pox virus.

This as Jamaica recorded its second case of monkey pox at the weekend.

Speaking during an interview with Irie Fm news today(July 25), Dr. James said while more cases are inevitable, the Coronavirus pandemic has helped in preparing healthcare professionals to deal with Monkeypox, and so there is not much panic in the health sector.

He reiterated the need for persons to remain vigilant and protect themselves and to also only trust credible sources for information.

He also noted the need for a public education campaign to provide updates on the virus.
