9 shot shot, 3 fatally at football match in Old Harbour, St Catherine
Nine persons were shot, 3 fatally, at a football match in Old Harbour St Catherine on Sunday.
The deceased are: Jerome Squire, a man known as ‘Curry’ and Tamara Eubanks.
The match was an in house competition on premises owned by Jamaica Broilers.
In a statement, the company expressed shock at the incident, and also extended condolences to the relatives of the deceased.
It noted that the matter is being investigated by the police, and that the company hopes justice will be served.
Head of the police’s corporate communications unit senior superintendent Stephanie Lindsay said the probe is being conducted by the major investigation division.
She noted that someone at the football match being the target of the attack, is one of the theories being explored.
SSP Lindsay said an off duty officer at the match, challenged the gunmen.
She said based on preliminary reports, 2 of the persons killed were workers of the company hosting the match.
