65 offender clients at Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre recognised for successfully completing a range of academic programmes

Sixty-five offender clients were formally recognised on Thursday at the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre for successfully completing a range of academic programmes.

The ceremony highlighted their dedication to learning and underscored the department of correctional services’ commitment to supporting rehabilitation through education.

The ceremony, held under the theme “Forging a New Path: a Journey to Redemption,” honoured clients who successfully completed Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations, remedial classes at the George Davis Centre, and the University of the West Indies’ Prison-to-College Pipeline Programme in Entertainment Business.

One client was also recognised for earning an Associate Degree in Business Administration with distinction from the University of the Commonwealth Caribbean.

In addition, 10 inmates received special awards for achieving Grade One passes in their CSEC subjects.

Minister of State in the Ministry of National Security and Peace, Juliet Cuthbert Flynn, encouraged the graduates to apply their learning as they move forward.

She stressed that the inmates now have an opportunity to turn their lives around.
