61-year-old construction worker charged with rape and assault at common law following incident in St. Mary
A sixty-one-year-old construction worker has been charged with rape and assault at common law following an incident in Enfield, St. Mary last year.
He is Paul Edwards, otherwise called ‘Kongo’ and ‘Rommel’ of the community.
Reports from the St. Mary Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) are that last November, Edwards entered a woman’s yard and demanded to have sex with her.
The woman refused and a tussle ensued between them.
During the struggle, Edwards reportedly pulled a knife and pointed it at the woman, causing her to surrender to his demands.
Edwards then reportedly proceeded to have sex with the woman against her will, before fleeing the area.
The incident was reported to the police and Edwards was subsequently accosted during an operation last month.
He was charged on Wednesday, March 26.
He is to appear in the St. Mary Parish Court in Annotto Bay on Tuesday, April 15.
