565 people charged under new Firearms Act so far this year
A total of 565 people have been charged under the new Firearms Act since the start of the year.
Speaking at a Jamaica constabulary force press briefing yesterday (July 4), Commissioner of Police Major General Antony Anderson said cops have also seized 370 illegal guns, to date.
Commissioner Anderson said this reflects the mission of the constabulary force to tackle gangs, guns and gunmen.
He added that several alleged gangsters are before the court, some awaiting sentencing, while others are awaiting the start of trial.
