526 schools reopened following the passage of Hurricane Melissa
526 schools have reopened since Hurricane Melissa.
After the category 5 storm passed over the island on October 28, the Education Ministry had indicated that schools which were able to should resume classes on Monday November 3.
Providing an update today, Education Minister Dr. Dana Morris Dixon noted that despite many teachers and staff having difficulties after the hurricane, they have made tremendous efforts to facilitate the resumption of teaching and learning.
She said repair work continues at schools which have not yet reopened.
