A 52-year-old woman was murdered in Shirehampton Manchester, this morning.

Dead is Loraine Davy of New Hope District.

Reports are that at about 6:15 a.m., residents stumbled upon Davy suffering from a wound to the head and a knife lodged in her neck.

The police were summoned, and she was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Investigators say an individual is being questioned in relation to the killing.

Twenty eight people have been murdered in Manchester since the start of the year.
