Land has been identified in Montpellier, St. James to create a 50-acre botanical garden.

Agriculture Minister Floyd Green made the disclosure at the Montpellier Agricultural Show yesterday.

Mr. Green said a public gardens team has been tasked with ensuring the project’s completion, which should take “a year or so.”

The Agriculture Minister said the Montpellier Botanical Garden will be one of several created across the country.

The aim is to have at least one such garden in each parish.

He said this move is part of the Government’s plan to drive horticulture – the art or practice of garden cultivation and management.
