5 Jamaicans named in WI rising stars under 19 squad
Five Jamaicans have been named in a 15 member West Indies rising stars men’s under 19 squad who will undergo a two-week training camp in Trinidad.
They include medium pacers Deshawn James and Reon Edwards, along with Steven Wedderburn – a left-hand batsman and left-arm medium pacer,……………. in addition to the right handed batsman Adrian Weir, and spinner Tamarie Redwood who snared seven wickets against Barbados to help Jamaica win the Cricket West Indies rising stars three-day title recently.
The camp in the Twin Island Republic forms part of the ongoing preparations for the ICC men’s under 19 cricket world cup to be played in Sri-Lanka in January.
During the camp the players will play five matches at the national cricket Centre at Couva between today and November 25.
Three of those games will be against the Trinidad and Tobago under 23 team while the other two will be against the USA under 19 squad, who will also be participating in the World Cup.
The West Indies will again be led by Stepan Pascal and the squad includes several members who toured Sri Lanka for four-day “tests” and youth one-day internationals in August and September.
The West Indies squad for the tournament will be named in early December.
