394 people were murdered in the country up to Saturday, July 26.
According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force, this is 283 fewer than the 677 homicides recorded in the same period last year.
The St. Andrew South Division had the highest number of murders with 50, followed by St. Catherine South with 35.
Trelawny saw the lowest number of murders, with 7 followed by Portland with 8.
The JCF is also reporting that cases of rape declined by 61.
However, robberies went up by 47 and break-ins also increased by 119.
