3 people dead and 7 others including 2 toddlers hospitalised following motor vehicle crash in Discovery Bay, St. Ann

Three people are confirmed dead and 7 others including 2 toddlers are being treated at hospital following a crash along the Queens Highway in Discovery Bay, St. Ann, this morning.

The identities of the deceased have not been released.

The crash involved a Mitsubishi Outlander and a white Honda Step Wagon motor car which was being operated as a taxi along the Discovery Bay to Falmouth route.

Head of the St. Ann police Deputy Superintendent Rohan Elliot told IRIE FM News that the incident occurred at about 11:20 A.M.

He said the driver of the Outlander lost control of the vehicle which collided with the Step Wagon motor car.

222 people have been killed in road crashes since the start of the year.

The National Road Safety Council said 34 of those deaths occurred this month.
