3 people are dead following shoot out in Spanish Town; at least 6 killed in St. Catherine today
Three people are dead following a shoot out in Spanish Town, St. Catherine this afternoon (June 14).
The police’s Corporate Communications Unit, CCU confirmed that one of the persons was fatally shot by police.
The unit says police intervened after gun men traded bullets in the town centre this afternoon.
According to the CCU an ongoing gang feud fueled the incident.
The police say at least one of the deceased was a known violence producer.
One firearm was also seized during the incident which has now been brought under control.
Meantime, Mayor of Spanish Town, Norman Scott has expressed concern about the incident.
He is calling on the security forces to restore calm to Spanish Town.
And at least three other people were killed in separate incidents in St. Catherine, this morning.
The incidents occurred in Zambia in Central Village and Mccooks Pen.
Dead are 26-year-old Jamaica Defence Force reserve, Kemar Dennis and 2 unidentified men.
Reports are that Dennis was shot and killed at his home, in Zambia, at about 3am.
Residents reportedly heard explosions and summoned the police.
Upon the arrival of the lawmen, Dennis was seen with gun shot wounds
He was pronounced dead at hospital.
Hours later in Mccooks Pen, the bodies of two men were found along a dirt track.
Reports from the Spanish Town Police are that at about 6am, residents heard gunshots and alerted them.
Upon their arrival, the bodies of the two men were found with gunshot wounds.
