28 people were killed in Jamaica in the first 8 days of March.
According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) 117 murders were recorded in the first two months of 2025.
In its latest crime data publication, the JCF said 145 murders were recorded up to Saturday, March 8 – 28 more than the tally for January and February.
Meanwhile, data indicates that murders continue to decline.
The 145 homicides recorded up to last week represent a decrease of 51, compared to the 196 murders recorded in the same period last year.
The JCF is also reporting that cases of rape declined by 58 and robberies by 24.
Meanwhile, break-ins increased by 26.
