Jamaica Festival Song Competition 2025 deadline extended

Aspiring musicians and songwriters can rejoice as the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) has announced an extension to the deadline for entries to the 2025 Jamaica Festival Song Competition.

Initially set to close on Friday, March 14, the new closing date is now Monday, March 31. This extension provides prospective participants with an additional two weeks to perfect and submit their entries, all vying for a share of over $3 million in cash and prizes.

Since January, the JCDC has been accepting entries for the prestigious competition, with stipulations that songs must promote patriotism, capture the Jamaican spirit, and be of any genre of Jamaican music.

The Jamaica Festival Song Competition has a rich history of showcasing local talent and producing iconic anthems that embody the country’s cultural identity. Past winners include Buju Banton, Shuga, Roy Rayon, Stacious, Eric Donaldson, Singer J, Stanley Beckford, Toots and the Maytals and The Astronauts, to name a few.

The JCDC also took the opportunity to urge aspiring musicians and songwriters to seize this opportunity to showcase their creativity and talent.
