25 local based players for 2023 Winter Elite 1 Caribbean Basketball League
25 local based players have been selected to participate in the upcoming Winter Elite 1 Caribbean Basketball League at the National Arena starting this Saturday January 7.
This follows the official release of the rosters for all four teams that have been confirmed to compete.
The elite 1 horizon team features seven local based players, led by 6-foot-9 power forward Owayne Lawrence and exciting small forward Anthony White.
Elite 1 storm includes 6 local based players featuring small forward Daniel Martillier who was a member of the special olympics mixed unified basketball team in Abu Dhabi in 2019, along with the seasoned power forward Roshane B’brien.
The most promising local player currently, David Gordon who impressed scouts back in the summer will again suit up to lead Elite Rivers along with the point guard Dave Black.
Six Jamaicans will also compete in the elite waves team, where small guards and national invitees Jermaine Brown and Maliek Mccarthy will lead the aggregation.
The four competing teams will also feature players from the United States, Canada and Barbados, with Jonatao Njungu of the Elite 1 Horizon squad the only player from Angola.
The tournament is set to run for three weeks……tips off at 6pm on Saturday with Waves up against Rivers before Storms oppose Horizon in the feature game at 8.
