239 schools severely damaged by Hurricane Melissa
Two hundred and thirty-nine (239) schools sustained severe damage from Hurricane Melissa.
Providing the update in the Senate yesterday, Education Minister Senator Dr. Dana Morris Dixon said, in total, 679 public schools, and 21 tertiary institutions were impacted.
She noted that the most severely affected schools are concentrated in region 3, which includes the parishes hardest hit by the storm.
Dr. Morris Dixon stressed that every education region experienced some level of damage, underscoring the storm’s widespread impact on Jamaica’s education system.
