Lack of adequate support by Financial Services Industry hinders development in agriculture sector – Floyd Green
Agriculture Minister Floyd Green has lamented that the lack of adequate support by the Financial Services Industry has hindered the development of the Agriculture Sector.
Speaking at the conference on Climate Change impact on food security, Mr. Green said it is still too difficult for farmers to access to capital.
He stressed that players in the Agricultural Sector need capital in order to implement climate change mitigation measures.
Mr. Green said commercial banks still do not appreciate the importance of agriculture.
He noted that reforms in the banking sector, to prioritize providing assistance to farmers, would be beneficial.
The Minister has appointed a team to work with the Financial Service Industry, towards providing better assistance to farmers.
