The security forces have retrieved the body of the male teen who was reported missing, after the vehicle he was driving plunged into the Rio Cobre in St Catherine last night.

He has been identified as 17-year-old Oniesh Darby from Clarion Road Kingston 20.

Two other males who were also involved in the crash were taken to hospital for treatment.

Head of the Public Safety Traffic Enforcement Branch (PSTEB), Superintendent Lloyd Darby reported that the teen would have celebrated his 18th birthday today.

He said survivors of the incident indicate that the driver swerved to avoid hitting another vehicle while navigating the Bog Walk Gorge, causing the truck to collide into a rock before plunging into the river.

Members of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF), the St. Catherine Police and community members undertook the search for the teen.
