The Government will be importing select fruits and vegetables to stabilize and protect household food security, following the passage of hurricane Melissa.

Agriculture Minister Floyd Green said these crops will include Tomatoes, Lettuce, Sweet pepper, Cabbage and Papaya.

He said table eggs will also be imported.

Mr. Green made the announcement during yesterday’s sitting of parliament, as he outlined the damage caused by hurricane Melissa.

In the meantime, Mr. Green said as efforts continue to resume normality, the agriculture sector has been receiving aid from several organizations including the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica.
