The St. Ann Municipal Corporation has embarked on an initiative to ease traffic congestion within town centres.
Speaking to IRIE FM News this afternoon, St. Ann’s Bay Mayor Michael Belnavis said the most recent operation took place in Ocho Rios on Friday.
He said several illegal stalls were removed to the property of the Municipal Corporation.
Mayor Belnavis said the owners of the stalls can collect them after paying a fine.
According to Mr. Belnavis, the illegal stalls were creating traffic congestion in the town and hampering the business of legal vendors.
He said the Municipal Corporation will also be focusing on taxi operators who refuse to use the transport centre in Ocho Rios.
