A cloud of sadness hung over the Christiana High school in Manchester today, as students and staff mourned the death of 13-year-old Shantina Sergeant.
Shantina’s mutilated and burnt body was found at her home in Baillieston, along the Manchester/Clarendon border last evening.
Christiana High Principal Leecent Wallace led the school in observing a moment of silence for the murdered teen today.
Speaking with reporters at the institution, Mr. Wallace said students are not coping well.
He noted however, that the support from the Education Ministry and other stakeholders has been strong.
Meanwhile, community relations Education Officer at the Ministry’s regional five, Anieta Bailey said the recent incidents involving children are troubling.
She also extended condolences to the affected family.
