Principal of the Manchester High School Jasford Gabriel has indicated that the mental and emotional wellbeing of students is treated as a priority at the institution.
He noted that various initiatives have been implemented by Guidance Counsellors to provide psycho-social support to students.
He said while bullying is not a feature at the school, administrators are aware of the issue, especially in recent weeks, with reports of suicides.
Gabriel said students are also encouraged to participate in clubs and societies, which help build their social skills.
The Principal was speaking Wednesday at the handing over ceremony for a Gazebo built by the Manchester High School class of 1973.
He said the Gazebo functions as a place to reflect similar to the health ministry’s wellness bench concept.
