Head of Police Area 4, Assistant Commissioner of Police Michael Phipps is urging politicians to promote peace as the general election draws near.
A date has not yet been announced but the election is due by September and political parties are in campaign mode.
Yesterday, ACP Phipps revealed that there have been several complaints about the removal and destruction of campaign material in constituencies in the area.
The Office of the Political Ombudsman has also noted that there are increasing reports of political paraphernalia including posters, banners, and flyers being removed, defaced and destroyed.
ACP Phipps assured that measures are being taken by lawmen in Area 4 to prevent politically motivated conflict.
He said politicians must play their part by rejecting violence.
