The number of people killed in crashes on the nation’s roads has surpassed 200.

According to the Island Traffic Authority, 203 people have died in road crashes since the start of the year.

Among the latest victims is 31-year-old Security Guard Arlando Phillips of Alderton District in Discovery Bay, St. Ann.

Phillips died of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle collision along the Duncans Main Road in Trelawny this morning.

Reports are that at about 9:15 A.M., Phillips was driving a motor car towards Discovery Bay when he lost control of the vehicle which collided with a motor truck.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
