A St. Ann man is believed to have drowned at a beach in Salem, on Tuesday night.

Dead is 62-year-old labourer, Derrick Lewis, also called ‘Jun Jun’, of Salem.

Reports are that on Tuesday night, Lewis was at work at a popular restaurant, where a night Futsal match was being played.

Lewis’ job was to retrieve balls from the sea.

Further reports are that while a match was in progress, patrons noticed that Lewis could not be found and alerted the restaurant proprietor.

A search was launched and Lewis’ body was found washed up along the shore, in the vicinity of High Rock, early Wednesday morning.

The police were summoned and the body removed to the morgue.
