Mother charged after her 4 y/o child was fatally shot in Manchester last week

The mother of  Gia Griniell who was fatally shot at  home in Mandeville, Manchester last week,  will be facing the court, after being charged in relation to the 4 year old’s death. 

Gia died from a gunshot wound to the head. 

Her mother, 38-year-old Yanique Brown reported to the police that she had put her children to bed and went to the bathroom when a loud explosion was heard. 

She said her licensed firearm was in her bag.

Operations Officer for Manchester Deputy Superintendent Luhas Daniels said Brown was charged  yesterday,  with child negligence and breach of duty to securely store firearm and ammunition.
