Spokesman for matters relating to Portmore, Fitz Jackson in maintaining that Portmore should not become a parish, has again highlighted issues with health care delivery in St. Catherine.
The People’s National Party (PNP) has argued that Portmore is not ready for parish status as it lacks the necessary infrastructure, such as a hospital.
Speaking at the PNP’s East Central St. Catherine campaign rally on Sunday, Mr. Jackson lamented that on the same day, it took more than six hours for a very ill resident to receive attention at the Spanish Town Hospital.
Earlier this year, the government said it had identified land in the Bernard Lodge area for the construction of a public hospital in Portmore.
