Ashoka Road in Waterhouse will officially be renamed Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce drive

Ashoka Road in Waterhouse, St Andrew, will officially be renamed Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce drive after the mulitiple times World and Olympic champion.

During a meeting of the kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) on Tuesday morning Mayor of Kingston Andrew Swaby announced that the renaming ceremony is scheduled for May 25 at 2 P.M.

Swaby said it is the KSAMC’s way of continuing to demonstrate its appreciation to the track and field great who grew up in the inner city community in Kingston 11.

He said the event is in keeping with the resolution passed by the Corporation on September 10, 2024.

In February, the sprint legend was bestowed with the key to the city of Kingston, the Municipal Corporation’s highest honour.
