In a statement Dr. Holness said, May 1 marked the completion of another phase in his personal and  professional development, a pursuit born out of a deep desire to examine the root causes and complex dimensions of violence in Jamaica, from a more scientific, psycho-social, and geo-political perspective.

He said the aim is to design policies and implement strategies that effectively and holistically address gun violence, from prevention to prosecution.
