Two police officers and a civilian woman were shot and wounded during a gun attack in Denham Town, Kingston today.
Their wounds are not considered life threatening.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) confirmed reports of an alleged confrontation between the security forces and armed men along Water Street.
Reports are that about 2:35 a.m, cops attached to the Kingston Western division were on mobile patrol in the community when they observed a man acting in a suspicious manner.
Further reports are that upon seeing the police, the man ran unto a premises.
The cops pursued him but the man managed to escape.
Sometime later, the police observed a group of men with high powered guns, close to where a party was being held.
The gunmen opened fire at the cops, who took evasive action and returned fire.
When the shooting subsided, 2 cops and a woman were found suffering from gunshot wounds.
They were taken to hospital for treatment.
Indecom said a team was deployed to the community and started the probe into the incident.
The agents are canvassing for witnesses and cellular phone or CCTV footage.
They are also getting statements from the officers involved and civilians, as well as gathering forensic exhibits.
