Transport Minister Daryl Vaz has given assurance that the long awaited taxi park for Discovery Bay, St. Ann will be constructed.

He made the statement during this morning’s Post Cabinet press briefing.

The comment follows protests staged by taxi operators last month, who ply routes to Discovery Bay.

While he did not give a timeline, Mr.Vaz said the park is to be constructed through a partnership with the Noranda Bauxite Company, the Transport Authority and the St. Ann Municipal Corporation.

He said it will serve as the main terminal point for the 250 taxis serving in an around Discovery Bay and is to cost $10 m.

He assured that government is now in the final stages of plans to erect the taxi park.
