Dominican batsman Alick Athanaze has been drafted into the West Indies squad for the CG United One Day International series against Bangladesh as a late replacement for Shimron Hetmyer.
Cricket West Indies in a post on social media confirmed the move noting “Alick Athanaze has replaced Shimron Hetmyer in the squad for the CG United ODI series against Bangladesh in St. Kitts.”
“Hetmyer has withdrawn from the squad due to illness, we wish him a speedy recovery,” it added.
Athanaze’s inclusion is the third change in the last few days with Jamaican pacer Marquino Mindley and Jediah Blades drafted as replacement for Shamar Joseph and Matthew Forde respectively.
The West Indies team reads Shai Hope (captain), Brandon King (vice-captain), Keacy Carty, Roston Chase, Alick Athanaze, Justin Greaves, Amir Jangoo, Alzarri Joseph, Evin Lewis, Gudakesh Motie, Sherfane Rutherford, Marquino Mindley, Jayden Seales, Jediah Blades and Romario Shepherd.
